Boston is a wonderful city. It has a beautiful skyline and a ton of cool things to do. The one place where Boston suffers is with a lack of quick and easy transportation options, and bad traffic.
Sometimes, it's hard to travel in Boston.
Boston has a great train system but it doesn't reach all the places you might want to go, without putting in some walking time.
Driving a car there isn't awful, but it isn't ideal. Let's also not forget that Uber and Lyft can be a bit expensive on occasion, too. For many of these reasons, it's been a constant debate in the Boston area to try an eScooter pilot program, but it looks like the suburb of Brookline might be the first to legally tackle a pilot program for the area.

Previous eScooter Pilot Programs
The Boston area is home to more than 100 colleges, universities, and institutions of higher education which is why it's no surprise that green transportation have been pushed constantly, but not always with such great success. Last year, eScooter programs were launched in both Cambridge and Sommerville, but they launched without the permission of the local government. The case in Brookline is different, as the town officials have given the green light for an April 1st launch for both Lime and Bird. They'll have a six month pilot, at which time the officials will look thoroughly through the program and see the impacts they've made on the community.
Mass Law
Massachusetts laws haven't been so kind to folding electric scooters in the past, but in January, Governor Charlie Baker changed the laws so that eScooters are no longer classified as mopeds, but instead as bicycles which does not need a turn signal or brake lights, like the law requires of the mopeds.
