Review: Inokim OX

Inokim's OX eScooter is towards the top of their product line for a reason: It's an on/off-road beast that can handle just about anything you throw at it. It's mega-comfortable to ride, has great range and decent speed. In short, it's a great machine for long commutes and rides where comfort is at the top of your priorities.

Like Riding on a Cloud

Just looking at the Inokim OX is somewhat intimidating. It's large frame, sleek angles and large tires make it look like a machine that deserves to be ridden hard, but it's so surprising that when you take it out for a ride and hit the throttle, it rides like a luxury vehicle.

Rear swing arm on the OX

The two one-sided swing arms that hold the tires and brakes onto the frame are beautiful and elegant. The suspension is so incredibly comfortable- even when riding over super uneven terrain. I didn't get a chance to ride the eScooter off road, but I imagine that it would have been a fantastic ride.

One thing that was very surprising to me when riding was the center of gravity on the OX. Going into this, the OX (on paper) was one of the heaviest eScooters that I've ridden thus far, so I was very interested to see how I handled it. To be honest, it felt better than most eScooters that I've ridden in terms of center of gravity. In fact, it was so well done that I really didn't notice the 62 lb weight at all.

The Inokim OX in one of the Manhattan locations

Like other Inokim eScooters, the OX uses a very easy-to-read LCD display that gives you all of your critical riding information in a way that's easy to read. The braking system felt good, and was very easy to use.

What Sets Them Apart

Source: Inokim

One thing that Inokim offers to their customers in NYC is a thing that sets them apart from all the rest: They offer full service by trained technicians in their Manhattan shops. Flat tire? Battery Issue? Need a spare part? They've got you covered and they're ready, able, and willing to take care of all of your service needs.

Inokim also uses high quality parts. From my understanding from talking with the Inokim employees, the scooters are designed in Israel, although they are manufactured in China.

Overall Impressions

The OX is a beautiful creature that rides as good as it looks. The 10" tires suited the frame beautifully, and coupled with a great (and really cool!) suspension design came a comfortable ride on and beautifully-balanced frame. Worried about weight? I wouldn't worry unless you've got to carry it up stairs. For the features, the price seems to be right as well.

I think my only single complaint about this eScooter is that I wish the speed was not limited. This feels like a scooter that would be capable of going twice as fast, safely. For some scooters, this is the only way that they can be sold in countries across the world, due to the varying eScooter laws.

eScootNews.com Rating:

If you're looking to purchase one for yourself, I'd highly recommend visiting the Inokim stores in Manhattan. If you're an online buyer, Urban Machina has an excellent selection of Inokim products.

When we discovered that Inokim was opening two new locations in Manhattan, we went down to visit and spend time with the employees who educated us about all of the models. The video below is a summary of our experiences at Inokim and a brief overview of each individual model that they had in the shop.
