So you've got this brand new, extremely cool electric scooter and now you're headed out to the streets to put some miles in with all of your other electric scooter friends (we can hope, right?).
If you're anything like me, you got so excited about playing with your new toy that you forgot about all of the helpful things that matches up well with it- helmets, mounts for phones and lights and cameras- and more! We took some time to compile a list of the coolest add-ons for your eScooter experience.
Get a Helmet!
Protect your head AND be seen with the Lumos Helmet.
First, let's talk about the obvious. PLEASE be safe and wear a helmet! A Consumer Report released recently suggesting 94% of eScooter riders weren't wearing a helmet. Head injuries are no fun, and you should actively protect yourself when riding an eScooter.
The good part of this is that we have a lot of helmet options. From a basic bike helmet or skateboard helmet, there are options for visors, clear glare shields and any number of other cool ways to accessorize your accessories!
The Lumos helmet (pictured above right) is one of our favorites. Many parts of the helmet light up to make you very visible. Also, you can show people when you're stopping or even use turn signals.
If you might be interested in something that has more full coverage on your head, here's a good inexpensive heavier-duty helmet.
If you don't want a bulky helmet, here is a great inexpensive lightweight option.
You should be able to find a great helmet option without having to spend too much money.
Capture the World
But if you're going to use a GoPro, you should probably find a specialized mount. This one that I found recently fits a number of different types of cameras and fits well on the handlebars of your eScooter. If you get really adventurous, you might also want to check out the Chesty Harness from GoPro, so you can mount the camera directly on your person.
Aside from the GoPro, one that I like even more is the DJI Osmo Pocket. DJI is famous for making some really great drones, but they also make other cameras and gimbals for both the consumer and the professional world. The DJI Osmo Pocket is a super small action camera that can either be strapped to your eScooter or to yourself! This camera features video up to 4K 60fps and includes features like facial tracking and what I find to be some of the best stabilization in the industry at this level. Also, it's very small! Although you won't get as much of a 'wide angle' shot as you will with the GoPro, I find the video and audio quality of Osmo Pocket to be better than GoPro.
Just like the GoPro, the DJI Osmo Pocket can actually use all the same mounts as the GoPro, but you'll need an inexpensive adapter. But the Osmo Pocket has a great set of accessories for itself including an Anamorphic Lens, a Wide Angle Lens (to give it that GoPro look), and various specialized mounts.
Lock it up!
Turn on/off your eScooter with a Fingerprint Scanner
If you want to pick up a Fingerprint Scanner for your own Dualtron, you can do visit this link.
This one is fairly obvious. Lock up your eScooter! You've got a wide range of eScooter locks to choose from.
It might be best to get a thick security cable with a U Lock. If you use this method, you can use the U Lock to lock either the front or back tire to a post or rail and you can use the cable to weave through the other tire or another part of the eScooter.
Currently, the best one I've found is this one that's available on Amazon.com. Made by Via Velo, it has all-weather protection and great security.
If you're looking for just a U Lock, maybe this one is a little bit more of your style. Yes, it does come with a cable, but the lock is a little bit heavier-duty.
These locks don't have to be terribly expensive- maybe $20 to $50 is a good range. Just make sure it's made out of something very durable, and a material that is not easily tampered with.
Have you had a second to look through our eScooter Buyer's Guide yet? We've compiled every useful piece of information we can think of so that you don't have to play guessing games when buying an eScooter.
Even more Security?!
There are a few different options from Tiles to choose from. You can use the Tile Mate, the Tile Sport, the Tile Slim, or the Tile Pro. This is a very inexpensive way to help you ensure eScooter security.
Monitor your App!.....or take a call.
Bone makes a great handlebar-mounted phone holder
What if you need to make a call? What if you need GPS? What if the folding electric scooter you're riding provides an app for your smartphone so you can connect directly to it to monitor its stats and speed and distance?
This mount from a company called Bone makes it so that you can mount your phone directly onto the handlebars of your eScooter. Potentially, you could also take some calls while you're riding around! Please note that in some regions of the world, it is illegal to utilize a vehicle while you're using any communication device. Also, it is unsafe- and in some places, illegal- to ride with headphones on.
Get a grip.
Changing the grips on your eScooter may make the ride more comfortable for you and they help make longer rides much easier on your hands. Unfortunately if you choose the wrong thing, they might be less comfortable too. Consult your local eScooter dealer and ask if they have recommendations on how you can ride more comfortably, especially if you like long rides like I do. Grips don't have to be expensive, and start well under $20.

Tire Care
Slime helps repair your tire punctures.
Tire Slime is just an absolute no-brainer. By using this product, you can worry a lot less about punctures in your tires. Why? This stuff seals your tires and repairs smaller punctures and lasts for up to two years per use. For safety's sake, you should probably replace your tire or tube after punctures, but this could be the product that helps you to get home after an incident. Safety first.
