The Mii2 scooter was one of my first introductions to eScooters in 2018. It was a folding electric scooter unlike any that I had ever seen before. It was built with great craftsmanship, full of great features, and incredibly fun to ride.

Riding eScooters in the Middle of the Night

It was the first night of Yom Kippur, and I happened to be on somewhat of a vacation on Tel Aviv. My wife and I met up with some friends that evening because they told us, “The lights will be off all over town and everyone will be in the streets- walking, riding bikes and eScooters, and enjoying the silence.” I thought to myself, “You have to be kidding me. There’s no way that an entire country shuts down for a few days.” I took a walk outside after dark and found out very quickly that our friends were correct. Silence, like I’ve never heard before in a city. They asked to meet us on a popular ten lane highway close by. Again, I was sure that they were yanking my chain. There had to be cars there. So we walked a mile to the meeting point, and sure enough, there was not a car in sight.

That’s when our friend showed up with the eScooter that I wanted so badly to take home with me: a Mii2.

the Company

Mii2 is an Israeli company, which is based in Tel Aviv. There are two locations in Tel Aviv, one of which includes a repair shop. I visited both shops and found every single person that was working was inviting and happy to help me, including an older gentleman who convinced me that I needed to take one of their eScooters for a half hour or more to make sure that I got to spend time with all of the features. He didn’t want me to buy a scooter blindly, and I really appreciated that.

Mii2 prides itself on providing a fast electric scooter (sturdy too) that is designed in Israel. I’m unsure if it is built within the country or not, but regardless- the craftsmanship was excellent. It was apparent to me that in the design phase, someone was really trying their hardest to build an eScooter that would serve a commuter or hobbyist with very few issues. It seemed like everywhere I looked, there was refinement in the design and I loved the clean look and the quality materials.

Specs

First off, the Mii2 comes in at 32lbs. Almost anything that I have ridden so far in its class  ends up weighing far more than the Mii2 did. For speed, you’re probably going to see 18mph in cruise, but I definitely remember seeing higher speeds than that when I was in 3rd gear. This fast electric scooter has three gears to choose from so that you can define your comfort level of speed. In the Range category, you’re looking in upwards of 25 miles of range. That’s quite a few commutes to-and-from wherever you work for most people. I could tell that this info had to be accurate because I was watching the LCD on the handlebars when I rode the scooter multiple times across the three weeks I was there. It had a carrying capacity of 308lbs, so even very heavy riders would not have to worry. The chassis was absolutely solid. It had great suspension, and it was clear to me that the suspension design came from in-house. It was paired with comfortable-riding 10” pneumatic tires, and it made for some of the softest riding I’ve experienced of any eScooter to date.

For those of you who fancy a good-looking scooter, you can get this one in 5 different color schemes. Want more or less range? There are a few different battery options, and I’m fairly certain that they’re all LG batteries. Want a wider footboard? They offer a wider footboard when you’re ordering the eScooter and it’s not too expensive. If you visit the shop, you can find some decorations for the footboards, too.

Although the scooter was priced a bit high – about $1,700 USD - and didn’t have app integration like so many other scooters (which it totally doesn’t need), I must reiterate this point: The Mii2 was so delightful to ride that I wish I could have taken it home with me.

For a hobbyist, it’s nice to have a fast electric scooter that is easy to use, especially when it is full-featured. I don’t want to deal with a bunch of features I don’t need that are hard to control. I don’t want to worry about having a maintenance-heavy scooter. I don’t want to spend a lot of money and buy a scooter that doesn’t serve my needs and my mission. But this (for me) was none of those things.

This was truly a joy to ride. I was thankful that my friends introduced me to the brand. And that night where we were on the highway in Tel Aviv? I was out there on my friend's Mii2, running up and down the highway enjoying the cool breeze and the fantastic piece of machinery that I was riding on.

The Only Downside?

I wasn’t able to take one of these home. Aside from the fact that NYC hasn’t made eScooters legal to ride yet, I still had 3 more months of international travel left to do before going home, and it would have cost me an extra few hundred dollars to have Mii2 ship a scooter to the states. UPS is currently the only company that was willing to ship the Mii2 from Israel to the USA. Currently, the only way to buy a Mii2 is to purchase it from one of the two dealers. But don’t worry: they are willing to ship their eScooters all over the world! You just might have to pay a little extra for it. With that, they offered great product support in-store, although it is a little bit slower to get in touch with them online.

But wait! There's more....

Mii2’s flagship model may be a bit too much eScooter for some people, but it is worth mentioning that they offer a SECOND folding electric scooter called the Mii2 Stand. For about half the money, you get a very lightweight scooter (20lbs) which is capable of going 15mph for 25 miles. There’s an app that is available for it and like the standard Mii2 scooter, it comes with a great warranty, some tools and even an alarm system. I found this particular scooter better for shorter riders (I’m not so short!).
